Brook Run Park Ball Fields

Client

City of Dunwoody

Location

Dunwoody, GA

Contract Value

$5.6 million

Completion Date

November 2018

Brief Project Description

Astra recently finished the City of Dunwoody’s baseball fields at Brook Run Park. The fields have many fascinating features that make them unique including all-season synthetic turf, multi-use outfields lined for soccer and lacrosse, state-of-the-art LED lights and canopy netting to protect spectators from foul balls. In case of rain, the fields are designed to rapidly drain water in a matter of minutes. For example, if there are two inches of rain, the field can be used after only 20 minutes. This is possible because the turf combined with the sub-base drainage system allows it to drain very rapidly. All visitors to the field are in awe of its innovative design. Dunwoody is very proud of their new field, and we are very proud to have constructed it.

The park also includes a new field house including concessions, umpire & meeting rooms, bathrooms, dugouts with locked storage rooms, a playground, bleacher stands, batting cages, bullpens, parking, and a stormwater system with a detention pond.

Location

Atlanta, GA

Contract Value

$6.76 million

Completion Date

January 2019

Brief Project Description

Astra completed the Capitol Square Extension project just in time for the gubernatorial inauguration. As part of our scope, demolition of the existing pedestrian bridge and the parking deck across from the James H. “Sloppy” Floyd Building occurred the week of May 1st!

The concept of this project demolishes the parking deck and utility bridge and replaces them with an “extension” of Capitol Square to the MLK-Jesse Hill intersection. Our winning design of the extension creates new traffic lanes, upgrades traffic signals and adds an enhanced pedestrian experience to the existing intersections at Capitol Avenue-Capitol Square and MLK-Jesse Hill.
