Brief Project Description

Astra is in full swing on the Capitol Square Extension project. As part of our scope, demolition of the existing pedestrian bridge and the parking deck across from the James H. “Sloppy” Floyd Building occurred the week of May 1st!

The concept of this project demolishes the parking deck and utility bridge and replaces them with an “extension” of Capitol Square to the MLK-Jesse Hill intersection. Our winning design of the extension creates new traffic lanes, upgrades traffic signals and adds an enhanced pedestrian experience to the existing intersections at Capitol Avenue-Capitol Square and MLK-Jesse Hill.
